Chain of custody
In 2002 a US special forces patrol in the mountains of Kandahar province, Afghanistan, was attacked by a giant twelve to thirteen feet tall, red-haired, with six fingers on each hand and two rows of teeth. It killed one American with a spear before the team shot it. The body was recovered, flown out of the country, and the incident was classified.
The story is carried by datable broadcasts, articles and podcasts rather than by any record of an event, and the tellings on this ladder contradict one another about where the body went, when the sighting happened and who was present, while the published casualty accounting and the replies given to journalists hold nothing matching the account.
