Stállu is a giant or troll-like figure in Sámi folklore - often large, strong, sometimes cannibalistic, frequently outwitted by clever Sámi heroes. He may own reindeer, demand tribute, or threaten children. The stories encode survival intelligence: how smaller peoples endure larger threats through cunning rather than matching force for force.
