Bestla, daughter of the giant Bölþorn, married the god Borr and bore Odin, Vili, and Vé - the brothers who would kill Ymir and shape the world from his corpse. Through her, the chief of the Æsir carries giant blood. The North never drew a clean line between gods and jötnar; kinship and enmity were braided from the start.
