Gogmagog

In Geoffrey of Monmouth's twelfth-century history, Gogmagog was the greatest of the giants who inhabited Britain before Brutus and the Trojan exiles arrived. Corineus, founder of Cornwall in that pseudo-history, wrestled him on the cliffs and hurled him into the sea. The fall was meant to clear the island for a new founding myth - Britain as empty enough to inherit, if you erase the large ones first.
