Quinametzin

In Aztec cosmogony, the Quinametzin were giants who lived in an earlier age of the world, often linked to a previous sun in the cycle of creations and destructions. Tradition associates them with the building of monumental structures later claimed or reused by human peoples. They were destroyed or diminished when the ages turned - by flood, by jaguars, by the will of the gods - according to the version told.
