Nephilim

Also known as: The Fallen Ones, Gibborim

Basic account

The mighty ones of old - offspring of the sons of God and daughters of men.

Account

Genesis speaks only briefly, and that brevity has filled centuries of commentary. "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days - and also afterward - when the sons of God went in to the daughters of humans, who bore children to them. These were the heroes that were of old, warriors of renown." The Hebrew root behind Nephilim is often linked to "fall" or "those who cause to fall," though scholars still debate etymology and intent.
